So Who is the Most Popular Electronic Music Artist?

There are many popular electronic music artists but the two names that consistently vie for the title of "World's Top DJ" year after year are Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. Tiesto specializes in the sub genres of electro-house and progressive house whereas Armin van Buuren focuses mainly on trance music. Tiesto was named Top DJ by DJ Magazine (UK) 3 consecutive times in 2002, 2003, and 2004. However, Armin van Buuren has gotten the best of Tiesto since than. Recently, another DJ by the name of David Guetta has topped both Tiesto and van Buuren as the world's highest rated DJ. Guetta is known for his use of hip-hop within the electro-house sub genre and he frequently collaborates with popular hip-hop and R&B artists. The rest of the top ten most popular electronic music artists has been a revolving door since Tiesto and van Buuren took over the scene. With namesakes like Paul Van Dyk and Ferry Corsten hitting the top ten in 2007 up to 2011's Deadmau5, Avicii, and Afrojack, the electronic and dance music scene is an ever-evolving music platform and it continues to grow today. The most popular DJ of tomorrow may be a nobody today.

The DJ with the fastest growing popularity would have to be Avicii. The 22 year old Swedish-born phenomenon burst onto the scene with a remix of his own track, "Bromance", and a subsequent vocalized version, "Seek Bromance". He has since seen hits with songs like "Levels", "Fade Into Darkness" (a vocal remix of his own track, "Penguin"), and "My Feelings for You". He also collaborated with popular singer Leona Lewis to remix his song, "Penguin", into a new track featuring her vocals called "Collide". Avicii is set apart by his large anthemic sound and beautiful synths.

The DJ with most pop would have to be the Dubstep producer, Skrillex. A year ago he played a show at a local Orlando nightclub the night before Tiesto played at the local collegiate arena. By May of this year year, he was co-headlining the first night of Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando with Tiesto. For half a decade, music experts have been predicting the move of the electronic music sub-genre, dubstup, from the UK over to America. Nobody was able to break the barrier until Skrillex showed up seemingly over night with huge hits like "My Name is Skrillex", the remix to "My Name is Skrillex", "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites", and "First of the Year (Equinox)". Skrillex has not only brought dubstep to America, but he has brought dubstup to the mainstream, which has, in turn, brought all of EDM to the mainstream.

It's hard to say who exactly is the most popular electronic music artist out there with so many amazing choices to choose from, but few names stay consistently rooted at the top. With the genre at its biggest and the music at its best, we could see some new names begin to top the chart and be recognized as the most popular electronic music artists in the world.
